Convention and Visitors Bureau Thanks Community

January 23, 2009

Thank you Saugatuck-Douglas and Friends,

It is just wonderful to see so many people so excited about this award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation! The CVB Board of Directors, my staff, and I appreciate all of your wonderful congratulatory comments. However, we would like to point out that our application was supported by several extremely important community leaders who also deserve everyone's appreciation and gratitude as well.

We hope you will join us in thanking Senator Patricia Birkholz, Saugatuck City Manager Kirk Harrier, Douglas City Manager David Kowal, Marcia Perry, Vice President, Saugatuck Dunes Costal Alliance and Kathy Sturm, President Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society for providing thoughtful and compelling letters of support to include with our application to the National Trust. Their backing provided weight and extra credibility to our nomination and we are extremely grateful for their participation.

We would also like to thank the Press for their outstanding coverage, all of the staff and volunteers who helped execute the events, the several hundred cheese lovers who braved the blizzard to attend our reception, Fred Schmidt for assisting with the email blasts and our web designer Denise Scott Jackson who broke all speed records getting these National Trust web pages online!

Warmest regards,

Felicia Fairchild
