Congratulations Saugatuck-Douglas!  Being named one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation shows once again what a great commitment you have all made to making our community a charming and historic treasure.  This award is one more reason for tourists to visit our "art coast of Michigan"and I am proud and excited for those who made this award happen.

State Representative Robert Genetski

Congratulations to you and your excellent team for your strong work in making certain S/D  received  this prestigious National award!! We so appreciate your team's ongoing strong efforts to keep our wonderful communities in the minds of current and prospective visitors.  Warm regards, Janie and Jim Flemming

Kudos and congratulations on this coup for Saugatuck & Douglas!  I'm so sorry to have missed the Open House on Tuesday; I was trapped at home because of the stormy weather.  But thought of you and read with delight the article in the Sentinel.

The community leaders group met at the SCA yesterday -- everyone expressed their thanks for all the work you did to secure this important award and wished they could have said so in person (we know you were resting up!).  Please know how many folks are grateful for the hard work you do to keep the spotlight shining brightly on our communities.

Here's to you and your staff, Felicia!  Cheers and congratulations!

How very cool! I’ll run the story on our Web site today. Congratulations! Please contact me any time you have business news coming out of the Saugatuck-Douglas area or when you have ideas for potential business stories/features. We cover all of West Michigan and would enjoy including Saugatuck-Douglas more often.

Congratulations on Saugatuck-Douglas being designated as one of the “Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the United States” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. My wife & I frequently visit the area (can’t resist the Butler House restaurant or the Bauble Bath store) and applaud this recognition.

Congrats again on both the amazing citation from the National Trust, but also the awesome reception.  I dreamt of those cheeses....fabulous.

I loved your quote in the GR Press, too, about preserving even more than the South Denison and protecting us from out of town interests.

My next show is Friday, January 23 at 9:30am...WGVU is 88.5fm or on line at wgvu.org

Cheers,

Jon Helmrich

The City of Saugatuck is truly honored to be named to the 2009 list of America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations along with the City of Douglas.  A very special thanks goes to Felicia Fairchild and her exceptional staff for all their hard work and dedication.  A good friend of mine once told me, “A day away from Saugatuck is a day wasted.”  Receiving an award like this proves that statement even more true.
