Saugatuck-Douglas, MI

Singapore Bank Bookstore

Customer comment: The name of this bookstore is what initially attracted me. Then I saw the stairs...lots of stairs...lots of steep stairs. I took those stairs as a challenge. After a meal at Phil's, I needed a workout anyhow. The store earns it's name from the days when the building served as the bank for the town of Singapore, Michigan. It wasn't originally constructed on the land where it sits at present, but it enjoys a great spot now that Saugatuck's summer tourist season has arrived. As for the selection of books and glassworks upstairs, I can say that it looks just how you might want a small town bookstore to look.
