BLUE COAST ARTIST STUDIOS

May -October. Celebrating their 23rd season, the Blue Coast Artists invite visitors to a behind-the-scenes look into the studios and galleries of seven studio artists. bluecoastartists.com.

BREWERY TOURS

CHAIN FERRY

Opening Friday May 24 at noon for Memorial Day weekend. Open weekends only Friday 12-9 pm, Saturday 9 am-9 pm, Sunday 9 am-6 pm until June 16. Starting June 17th, open daily until closing for the season on September 2, 2013.

CULINARY WALK

9 am. Monday-Friday, May-December. The Secrets behind the storefronts of Saugatuck and Douglas. Taste, sip, and learn what makes the shops in Saugatuck and Douglas a food lover’s dream. Each tour is limited in size so that the experience is small and intimate. Understand what makes up the food that satisfies us. This three-hour walking tour will offer a culinary peek into the village food and village life of Saugatuck and Douglas. This area continues to be a food producing hub on the lakeshore, expanding on the fruit farms of Gerber and the fishing village of Singapore. There will be several stops with tastes that may include smoky meats, area award-winning wines, hints of spice, delightful oils, richly roasted coffee, local fruit spreads and bakery breads, plus a local farm market. “Secrets” revealed include how your local favorites are made and how the shops came to be. DAY CAMP AT PINE TRAIL CAMP

DELICIOUS DRIVE TOURS

10 am, Tue-Sat, May-Dec. Colorful Area Farms and Creative Artisan Producers. Receive an honorary culinary diploma as you experience first hand (or should we say “first mouth”) eating local. Our Delicious Drive changes with the seasons to explore what’s fresh from the farm and new at the market. Allegan County is the Blue Ribbon Winner in crop production, number of farms, and average farm size in Michigan. Michigan is the second most diverse agricultural state in the country. Our Delicious Drive will include niche farms in operation, including organic fruits and vegetables, artisan cheese producers, wineries, orchards, a bakery, and an earthenware potter. The six-hour tour will feature the faces behind the "farm-to-fork" movement of Allegan County. GUIDED TALKS AT SAUGATUCK HARBOR NATURAL AREA

10 am on Saturdays, May 25–Sept 14, 2013, rain or shine, meeting at the north end of Oval Beach parking lot. An introduction to the natural and cultural history of this magnificent duneland, recently purchased by the City of Saugatuck. SAUGATUCK-DOUGLAS HISTORICAL MUSEUM

Open 12-4 pm daily May 27 through Labor Day and on weekends in September through October 28. Award winning museum’s 2012 exhibition is an updated version of “Our Village Life”. Photographs, artifacts and stories uncover the mysteries and stories of daily life in the Saugatuck area (1890-1950). The permanent interactive “super map” allows visitors to learn the history of sites throughout the local communities. Special group tours by request. The museum is in the historic Pump House at Mt. WINE PAIRING DINNERS

The Belvedere Restaurant is offering an informative and fun wine pairing dinner series the last Saturday of each month, November 2012 through April 2013. Wines are chosen from a particular region to be paired with a special six course gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Shaun Glynn (Galway, Ireland). Each menu will focus on particular ingredients, dishes and style of cooking indigenous to the featured wine region. The wines are presented by the expert wine representative of that growing region.
