EXHIBITION AT THE SCA SHOWCASES WORKS FROM AREA GALLERIES
Saugatuck/Douglas' national reputation as an arts haven on display in
"Gallery Owners Select"
Saugatuck, MI - The latest exhibition at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (400 Culver Street, Saugatuck) showcases select works from five of Saugatuck/Douglas' fine art galleries. "Gallery Owners Select" opens Friday, January 11, 2008 in the Bertha Krueger Reid Exhibition Hall. Admission is free; the show is open Monday - Friday, 9-5 EST and during performances.
The exhibition, which is sponsored by the Saugatuck/Douglas Convention & Visitors Bureau, features works from Amazwi Contemporary Art, Button Gallery, Good Goods, the Constance Petter Gallery, and the Water Street Gallery. Krista Reuter, SCA Program Director, says the concept behind the exhibition is to draw attention to the "amazing array of high quality work in our area galleries. The pieces in this exhibition are just a small sampling of what can be seen at any time in our community."
Felicia Fairchild, Director of the Saugatuck/Douglas Convention & Visitors Bureau, said the CVB was excited about sponsoring the show because, "it's a wonderful way to put art into a different setting - an exhibition hall - to give people a fresh look at the scope of work available. There are 38 studios and galleries in our community, and we hope Gallery Owners Select encourages guests to experience what we call 'the Art Coast of Michigan' here in Saugatuck/Douglas."
An opening reception for Gallery Owners Select will be held Saturday, January 12, 6-7:30 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall. The public is welcome to attend, meet the gallery owners, and view the exhibition.
