Hi Friends, I have good news to share with you!! As
an former Pan American Airways employee I am acutely aware of the power
of in-flight magazines. For many years the Visitors Bureau has been
trying to persuade a major airline to include a story about our
community in one of their in-flight magazines. Yes, you guessed
it! It has finally happened!
Saugatuck/Douglas has been
chosen by Delta Airlines to appear in their July issue of "Delta Sky
Magazine" - the busiest travel month of the year. Delta
flies to 479 worldwide destinations in 105 countries. The estimated
number of passengers they will carry in July is 15 million. In 2010
Delta ranked #1 in the number of airline passengers transported
world wide. We are extremely excited about this because our
Visitors Bureau has recently turned our attention to the international
tourism market to attract foreign visitors while the dollar is weak
abroad. The timing couldn't be more perfect! This could give our
image a strong "International Boost."
Our bureau is also working
closely with Delta's Public Relations Department to track the response
to this article through the CVB's tracking systems. If the response is
substantial we will consider further promotions with Delta. I would also
like to mention that several of the photos that appear in the story
were supplied by our good friend Erin Wilkinson.
I would also
like to mention that during the months of May and June 2011 our CVB has
also generated national publicity in Men's Journal, Conde Naste'/Yahoo
Travel, Budget Travel, Parade Magazine and an incredible ten page spread
in Lakeland Boating Magazine.
