Waterfront Film Festival Now Accepting Screenplays for Annual Competition - Saugatuck, MI

Submission Deadline is April 1, 2009

Saugatuck, MI -March 9, 2009 - The Waterfront Film Festival is again accepting entries to its annual screenplay competition.
 
The 2009 Waterfront Screenplay Competition, which is held as a part of the annual film festival in Saugatuck, Michigan, is looking for original screenplays. The competition is open to all professional and non-professional screenwriters, regardless of where they were born or they currently reside, including members of the Writers Guild of America.
 
The first-place winner will receive a $250 cash prize, a VIP all-access pass and lodging for the 2009 festival, as well as sponsor prizes. Additionally, the winner will meet with a literary agent or manager during the festival and will be introduced to industry guests at an exclusive party thrown in his or her honor to be co-hosted by the Writers Guild of America. All finalists will be invited and second and third place runner-ups will receive prizes.
 
Screenplays will be judged on merit and production criteria by a panel of industry professionals. A TicTock Studios executive will read the winning script and meet with the writer during the festival, which is scheduled for June 11-14. TicTock Studios is a fully financed and rapidly growing film and television production company with offices in Los Angeles and Michigan.
 
"Our screenplay competition is no longer an 'indie-only' contest - all genres and budgets are now welcome," said Carrie Cook, co-chair of the screenplay committee. "What we are looking for is originality, a unique voice and a well-crafted story.
 
For consideration, screenplays must be:
      • Full-length original feature film scripts.
      • The original work of the author and not previously purchased or produced.
      • At least 75 and no more than 140 pages in length, typed in standard industry format and
        submitted in English.
      • Must be in U.S. Motion Picture Industry Standard Screenplay format.
