Tulip Time Festival

Tulip Time 2006 will be held on May 6 - May 13. Holland is just 15 minutes north of Saugatuck-Douglas. Come stay with us and visit the Tulip Festival.

Birth of Tulip Time
In 1927, Holland responded warmly to Lida Rogers' (a local biology teacher) campaign for a spring flower celebration. In 1928, city council appropriated fund to import 100,000 tulip bulbs from the Netherlands. In 1929, residents celebrated Tulip Day. And in 1930, the Tulip Time Festival began.

The Tulpen Feest grew rapidly in the early 1930's. Tulip lanes, street scrubbing, Klompen (Wooden shoe dances), parades, and bands were added to the festivities.

Today, the city of Holland, and Tulip Time incorporated, collaborate to produce Tulip Time, the countries 5th largest annual festival.

The Tulip Time organization coordinates festival events, celebrity performances, publicity, lodging, and many other crucial functions.

They have lots of cool stuff, like fire works, Kinderplaats, parades, Dutch Dancing and pretty tulips.

There are lots of tulips with lots of colors.

"Tulip Time was so awesome!! The tulips have so many different varieties of colors!" - Tootie Skates
