The B&B is housed in a lovely, brick
Italianate-style home, constructed by William H. Seymour in 1862, whose family included
prosperous lumber barons, peach farmers, and bankers. The bed & breakfast guest
rooms are tastefully decorated with a unique theme in mind—Shakespearean,
Country, Great Lakes Nautical, Rose Garden, and Avian. Each room is furnished
with a queen-size or king-size bed, private bath, a fireplace, and framed cross-stitch
needlework—artfully created by one of the innkeepers. Two of the rooms offer a Jacuzzi
tub for guests who just want to relax in complete privacy.
All rooms offer picturesque views of the elaborately
landscaped grounds, accented by a one-acre, tree-framed willow pond stocked
with fish, paddleboat, and canoe. Seasonal flowers decorate a garden that
surrounds a delightful gazebo. Guests can stroll the secluded wooded setting
along well-maintained nature trails. After a leisurely walk, they can retire to
a comfortable sitting room where a book-lined library and fireplace await. For
guest comfort, the inn features central air conditioning.
For one of the innkeepers, baking and
cooking are passions—much to the enjoyment of guests, who are treated each
morning to full gourmet breakfasts. Posted on a quaint foyer chalkboard, a
typical breakfast menu might list a sausage soufflé, blueberry-swirl coffee
cake, muffins or bread, seasonal fresh fruit, juice, and fresh-ground coffee.
For guests seeking more privacy, the inn provides
the option of staying in an authentic 1920s log cabin, tucked away in a
secluded patch of woods about 100 yards from the main house. Presenting a
home-away-from home, the rustic cabin is outfitted with two bedrooms, living
room, bath, fully equipped kitchen, wood-burning stone fireplace, central heat
and air, TV/DVD player, barbecue grill, and a screened-in porch complete with picnic
table.
