The trails lead you straight to the beautiful Lake Michigan, so prepare for an amazing few hours.
Plan to spend a good portion of the day relaxing in the sand or taking a dip in the 70-degree water. If you haven’t checked out our award-winning Oval Beach, we highly recommend making that a stop on your list. As the blue water beautifully contrasts the rolling sandy dunes, we know this will be a favored summer memory. If you’re looking for a more secluded spot, visit Douglas Beach, just minutes from downtown Douglas.
Travel down the Kalamazoo River in style. This is a fun activity that is sure to be the talk of your weekend. You will have the opportunity to effortlessly pedal down the river and view the scenic wildlife and vegetation that makes up the Allegan Forest. Whether you’re in a group or travelling solo, this is the perfect activity! All you need is yourself and your colorful hydrobike.

Visit the Saugatuck Center for the Arts for their beautiful performance of the the 2007 film turned musical, Once. Go on the journey as they tell the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes an interest in his haunting love songs. As their chemistry grows, we guarantee you’ll be captivated as you begin to connect with all of the performers.

If you’re interested in live music, you’re all set for the Labor Day Weekend. Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk
Be a part of a Saugatuck/Douglas tradition and walk across the Blue Star Bridge which connects the two towns. This walk will commemorate the end of summer and celebrate the beginning of the new fall season. Walkers will meet on the Douglas side of the bride at 9 am, and The Town Crier will wave the grand American Flag with pride as he leads the walk at 9:30 am. This is sure to be a short and sweet event you won’t want to miss.
