GIRLS GETAWAY

Get the Girls Together

Turn Girls Night Out into a long weekend of bonding and celebrating with girlfriends from near and far. Centrally located with so many fun things to do in every season, Saugatuck/Douglas is the perfect destination for a Girls Getaway.

The Sleepover Starts Here

One of the keys to a great girls’ weekend is finding a place to stay that can accommodate everyone’s budget and style. Rent a cottage in the woods, check into a hotel along the waterfront like the Beachway Resort & Hotel, or celebrate a bygone era with a stay at the Saugatuck Retro Resort. Planning on some pampering? Bella Vita Spa + Suites is conveniently tucked away in the middle of downtown Saugatuck and only down the hall from its spa facilities, which offers massages, facials, and other relaxing treatments.

Wining and Dining

One of the time-honored traditions of a girls’ weekend is sharing a table—and a bottle or two—with your girl squad. Fortunately, when it comes to good food and good drink, Saugatuck/Douglas knows how to deliver. There are plenty of opportunities to toast to your friendship with our bars, tasting rooms and local wineries, craft breweries, and cideries. Sample wines and then take home a few bottles from Modales Wines or Fenn Valley Vineyards and Winery. For beer lovers, celebrate girl power with a visit to these two breweries—Guardian Brewing Company and Waypost Brewing Co., which are not only women-owned and operated, but also feature women head brewers.

Dining options run the gamut, with finer fare at places like Bowdie’s Chop House and the Belvedere Inn to the elevated downhome cooking of The Southerner and Crane’s Pie Pantry and Restaurant. Enjoy your meal and watch the sunset with a waterfront view at The Butler or the Mermaid Bar & Grill. And no girls weekend is complete without a Bloody Mary or Mimosa at brunch, which you can find in endless supply at Pumpernickels

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Of course, a girl needs more to do than eat and drink—which is why a little retail therapy should always be on the to-do list. Thanks to two unique shopping districts, there are plenty of wonderful boutiques and galleries to discover. Find one-of-a-kind ceramics, paintings, and other hand-crafted treasures at boutiques like Good Goods. For an eclectic mix of boho-inspired home decor and fashion accessories, Endora is a Bohemian general store and self-proclaimed “cabinet of curiosities.” On-trend clothing can be found at The James Boutique, My French Mart, Urban Found, and Brass Anchor Co. And for an experience that combines it all, check out Coastal Society, a carefully curated clothing boutique and fully-appointed craft bar in one location.
