Rees/Ashley: Language of Art

Charlie Rees and Bob Ashley are two interesting men who are passionate about their own art and art of others; they seek out art everywhere. Bob called himself a "wanna be" artist all his life as a designer and cartoonist. I sat down with them and was thrilled to learn about how they think about process. Charlie thoughtfully considers light, line and color; Bob enthusiastically discussed composition, rhythm and movement. A Cézanne image at the Chicago Institute of Art changed the way Charlie works with watercolors while Bob creates with thrift store finds. But that's not all-- neither could answer the question "what is your medium" because they are talented enough to create in multiple styles.
